2025 Amazon FBA Fee Update

While sellers optimized their listings for holiday sales and hoped that fulfillment centers would receive their FBA shipments in time, Amazon gave sellers a preview of Amazon FBA Fees for 2025. To sellers’ relief, Amazon announced they would not raise US Referral or FBA fees or introduce new fee types in 2025.

Along with keeping FBA and US Referral fees the same for 2025, they also announced additional fee updates for 2025.

  1. Large bulky-size products will have lower inbound placement service fees by an average of $.58 per unit for minimal shipment splits.
  2. New Parent ASINs that qualify for the FBA New Selection Program and ship before March 31, 2025, will have inbound placement service fees waived.
  3. New Seller Incentives and FBA New Selection Programs will include larger fee discounts to support adding targeted new selection in the Amazon store.

Lower FBA Inbound Placement Service Fees

Starting January 15, 2025, sellers shipping large bulky size products (59in x 33in x 33in maximum) can expect a lower inbound placement service fee for minimal shipment splits. Amazon averages this fee reduction at around $.58 per unit, leaving sellers with costs ranging from $1.10 to $5.95 depending on the product size. Amazon announced the launch of the FBA inbound placement service fee in 2024. The original fee increase for large bulky size products averaged at $1.58 per unit with the option of reduced or no fees based on the shipment sent to single or multiple locations. Although Amazon provides a lower-cost alternative, these shipments require shipping a higher number of boxes, raising shipping costs.

FBA Inbound Placement Service Fee Exemption with FBA New Selection

Amazon announced that sellers will have no inbound placement service fees for a new parent ASIN for FBA New Selection Program eligible ASINs until March 31, 2025. To be eligible for the waived fee, sellers must create their first shipment between December 1, 2024 and March 31, 2025. The discount will only apply to the first 100 units of the new parent ASIN. The FBA New Selection program was introduced in 2022 as a way for sellers to test new products on Amazon without the risk of accumulating fees. Eligible ASINs have free monthly storage, liquidations, and return processing. Here is a breakdown of the complete benefits:
  1. Monthly average rebate of 10% for sales of eligible ASINs
  2. 25% discount on Vine enrollment fees for eligible ASINs
  3. No inbound placement service fee for the first 100 units with the first shipment created between December 1, 2024 and March 31, 2025.
  4. No monthly storage fee for the first 100 standard-size ASINs for 120 days and free liquidation within 180 days.
  5. No monthly storage fee for the first 50 non-standard size ASINs for 120 days and free liquidation within 180 days.
  6. No return process fee for up to 20 units of standard-size ASINs.
To be eligible for Amazon’s FBA New Selection program, sellers who enroll must have an IPI score of 300 or higher. Parent ASINs enrolled must be new to FBA and be standard-size or non-standard size. Once enrolled, benefits will apply to an unlimited number of new to FBA products. Unfortunately, ASINs in media categories or used items are not eligible for the program. After enrollment, sellers gain access to the FBA New Selection dashboard. This interface provides the benefits sellers will receive from the program and ASINs that qualify.

New Seller Incentives and FBA New Selection Incentives and Discounts

As the final part of Amazon’s fee announcement, they plan to introduce more incentives and discounts for adding select products to the New Seller Incentives and FBA New Selection programs. Although specific benefits were not shared with sellers, Amazon states that discounts will be regularly refreshed and appear on the Seller Benefits page in Amazon Seller Central. Eligible products will include everyday essentials, products that have high customer demand but low selection breadth, and products that have popular brand names with global demand.

Amazon's Goals for 2025

In Amazon’s note to sellers, one of their goals for 2025 is to focus on simplicity and stability to minimize seller’s operational burdens and costs while driving growth. While US Referral Fees and FBA fees will not increase and new fees will not be introduced in 2025, Amazon is also trying to promote brands to list more products on Amazon.

By offering lower inbound place service fees and promoting discounts and incentives via the FBA New Selection and New Seller Incentives programs, Amazon is prompting sellers to sell more on Amazon while also bolstering Amazon’s FBA program. Even with the reduced inbound service fee for large bulky-sized products and additional incentive programs, sellers will still be responsible for shipping fees to the FBA fulfillment centers along with FBA fulfillment fees.

With the rising costs of inflation and the fee changes that launched in 2024, Amazon is providing sellers a break in 2025 by creating discounts for larger items and incentives for brands to list new products. Existing sellers with new products to list should take advantage of these programs and the associated fee savings but should keep in mind that most of these program benefits expire after 120 days. Established sellers will know that four months is not much time to build and launch a product on Amazon.
