Zebco is a premier fishing manufacturer that was looking to find a partner to manage their marketplace sales. Zebco had previously tried with other partners, but all had fell short. To test Commerce Rev’s ability to push profitable sales, Zebco provided a single ASIN, the Zebco Bullet Spincast Reel with Cover. Since this product had never sold on Amazon before, there were a lack of customer reviews and an advertising strategy. There was also concern of how longtime customers would receive this upgraded model of a long established product. To drive this product to profitable sales, Commerce Rev took a three step approach utilizing Amazon Advertising, Enhanced Brand Content, and Review Programs.

This is a heavy reel but very solid. I took the 10 pound line it came with off and put on a 6 lb. Mono. Casts as far as any reel ive ever owned. This is my second summer of using this reel and it casts and reels in perfectly.

Great reel. Its everything you'd love about your old spincaster as a kid except with all metal high quality parts. That being said it's a heavier reel but still easy enough a little one can use it. Can't say I've pulled in a big one and really put it to a reel test yet (pun intended) it's ok I'm a dad.

RESULTS:

Reviews are a vital piece of an Amazon listing.  Amazon’s Early Reviewer Program was put into place to act as a catalyst in generating positive product reviews from actual buyers.  Amazon allows you to enroll a product as long as it has 4 or less reviews, and Amazon will incentivize actual buyers of the item to leave a review in exchange for a small Amazon credit.  Once the product has 5 total reviews, it is considered successfully graduated from the program.  The program proved very successful for the new fishing item in this case study.

Automated review request emails were also set up, asking real buyers of the item to take a moment to leave an honest review.  This also proved successful and boosted the product reviews even more, and the product currently has reviews from 8.6% of the buyers.

ENHANCED BRAND CONENT

challenge:

This Premier Fishing Equipment Manufacturer was concerned that longtime customers would not be receptive of an upgraded version of one of their most popular products. They were aware of the risks involved in changing one of their most established products and wanted to ensure that the new edition would be successful.

In order to make this new product addition successful, Marketplace Rev was also posed with the challenge of developing new and unique content for the product.

To reinforce the idea that the product had undergone only small changes, content was created to highlight how the product’s vital components remain the same and that the changes made are beneficial to the customer.

  • Showcase and visually display the new features that have been added to the product
  • Maintain a balance between the two to assure customers this product is still right for them
  • Provide a more in-depth look at the new product to convince customers of the connection to the older version

results:

Gained a higher Amazon Best Sellers Ranking than the original product; the lower the rank, the better a product is selling on Amazon.

Offered customers Enhanced Brand Content for this product for the first time; the original had no Enhanced Brand Content for customers to learn from or view. 

Provided a better understanding of the product through an increased number of product images.
